Cotton Laundering & Care

Even with shrinkage control, most cotton fabrics shrink druring the first wash, so it’s imperative to prewash them before sewing. When polyester is added to cotton, it doesn’t breathe well and tends to pill, so many consumers prefer the comfort of 100% cotton.

Most cotton fabrics can be laundered in the washing machine. They should be washed frequently, since they tend to absorb moisture and pick up dirt. Wash white itmes in hot water, medium colors in warm water and dard colors in cold water. Cotton will shrink more in hot water than cold, and fabric that’s loosely woven shrinks more than tighter weaves,

Items with embossed designs and inner construction such as lining and shoulder pads, should be dry-cleaned, Loose knits, lingerie and fabrics with special finishies might also benefit from dry-cleaning.

How Often Do You Wash Your Cotton Bedding

The frequency for me is two weeks. Don’t be lazy, they would be more dirty than you thought. The cotton sheet and bedding accompines us closely in the night for a long time, during which time, your body would emit a lot of toxic things and tiny unseen germ, it will be much better if you put them in hot sunshine every once in a while, but the case is usual not like this, there are often gray days without sunshine such as in rainy seanon or cold winter, then the bedding, if not cleaned after one monthes or even longer, it may be harmful for your health in a way unknown to you.

Two weeks is great, one month is ok too, according to your habits. I remember when I was living in school apartment, where the living condition is poor and damp, and I don’t quite change the sheet that often, so I got some skin problems at that time, but when everthing changed and I moved to better places and have good living habit, those problems are nonwhere to see.

So if you got skin problems, first check if you wash your sheet and cotton bedding in a required frequency.

Frequent wash may kind of distort our cotton T-shirt, that why we need to buy new ones when the next summer season comes. After several times wash, the cotton shirt would lose it’s vivid color, or becomes larger.

100% cotton T-shirt is not always better, if for home comfortable wearing, than purely cotton is better,  but if for outdoor wearing,  added in it some other elements, it may got other benefits that cotton don’t have, such as anti-crinkle, which is an important tips for buying pants, since you don’t want your pants to be easily crinkled.

Since cotton hardly endure hard frequent wash, so wash them gently, use hands wash, not machine wash if you are not so lazy to put everything into the wash machine.

Don’t put them in the hot sun for too long.
